WENATCHEE, Washington–April 8, 2019–Wenatchee’s riverfront corridor area is taking shape as a prominent residential development, 600 Riverside Apartment Homes, nears completion.
Fifteen years ago in 2004, the city created its Waterfront Sub-Area Master Plan calling for increased waterfront development including residential units along the west bank of the Columbia River. The plan also outlined zoning and street improvements to facilitate the development.
The city encouraged the building of residential units in the area to help boost business at local restaurants, entertainment venues and shopping centers in that area and across the city. 600 Riverside Apartment Homes
is a 140-unit apartment complex by Weidner Apartment Homes located between Riverside Drive and North Piere Street and features studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and “live-work” units that are the first to be introduced in the area.
Modern, outdoorsy style and tone
The apartment community is in a landscaped garden-style setting, features a modern color scheme, and is surrounded by views of the Columbia River and the Cascade Mountain range. The theme of the complex pays homage to the nearby mountain range with floors named after mountain-climbing terms and a fitness center that features a climbing wall.
Floor-plans for contemporary lifestyles
An increasing number of people have the option to work from home, at least part of the time. Some residential community designers have responded to this new demand for a home/work hybrid by creating floor plans
with that in mind. These “live-work” units offer both a downstairs office and an upstairs apartment so people can work remotely with separate work and living spaces to help them clearly define each area and maintain that essential work/life balance.
Unique, desirable location
The new apartment complex has a prime location
that will appeal to commuters, nature lovers, fitness buffs and weekend warriors. Situated at the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, residents will have riverfront trail access, are close to the National Wenatchee Forest, nearby parks, and local eateries that are in the downtown district along South Wenatchee Avenue.
600 Riverfront is across the street from Riverfront Park, offers easy access to public transportation and lies within walking distance to historic the downtown Pybus Market. Its proximity to city amenities, the river, the park, and the mountain range gives it the unique distinction of being in the middle of an urban location yet surrounded by natural wonders.
Promotes health and fitness
Besides being steps away from riverfront hiking and biking trails, the newly built high-end apartment community may help residents save on gym membership fees by offering them access to its 24-hour fitness center complete with cardio equipment, weights and a rock-climbing wall
to round out the mountain-climbing theme.
Community Director Chris Fullerton said the new complex was designed for today’s consumer who is more active, health-conscious and places high value on experiences. “People want to live among like-minded people,” he said, explaining how 600 Riverside will offer these opportunities, as well as the benefit of being a smoke-free community. “More and more people want to eat clean, work out and live healthy lives,” he said.
High-end apartment and community amenities
“Another thing people in Wenatchee want are nice apartments with great onsite customer service and maintenance teams,” and those are the top goals 600 Riverside, according to Fullerton. He’s been pleased so far at the responses of prospective residents who are now scheduling tours for a May 1 move-in date. “They’re loving the luxurious apartment amenities like granite countertops, walk-in closets, vaulted ceilings, double sinks in the bathrooms and having a washer & dryer in every home,” he said.
Outside they’ll find luxurious community amenities like the stylish clubhouse with 24-hour access for wi-fi and resident events, the resort-style pool with a BBQ picnic area, and the nightly courtesy patrol to help ensure resident safety.
Easy to make friends
Another aspect of the community that’s important to Fullerton is creating a convivial atmosphere where it’ll be easy for residents to connect and form friendships. “Whether it’s hanging out in the resident lounge for movie night, chatting with fellow commuters while fueling up at the complimentary coffee station, grilling salmon by the pool, or playing with their dogs at the pet park, I just want people to have fun, make friends, and enjoy living here,” he said.
Enjoy the city and surrounding area
When not working, Fullerton is excited about all the prospects for fun his residents will have right in their own neighborhood. “Everything’s super close and there are so many things to do, no one can ever get bored,” he said.
Here are nine fun things to do in the Wenatchee riverfront area and nearby:
